Chroma Frame by Lucy Birley & Lambert Rainville
The Chroma Frame is a chair system created by Lambert Rainville to provide a structure for Lucy Birley’s graphic textile.
Lucy, a London Printed textile designer, based her creations on the interaction of colour, exploring composition, texture and tension. Her fabrics are printed by hand and translate her playful visual research. Her collaboration with product designer Lambert Rainville resulted in the “Chroma Frame”, a chair system with interchangeable textile covers.
In London I’ve had the chance to study by the side of very interesting people, too many to name them all, but here’s a few. Lucy Birley sought further applications for her fabrics and patterns, to go beyond two dimensional decoration. Her patterns are lively and I tried to provide, to the best of my ability, a “structure” to frame them. The result is a best of both worlds approach and I think it’s great to overlap areas of expertise. Lambert says
