Hula Seaside Murals

New York based Hawaiian artist Sean Yoro aka HULA, paints murals while floating on his paddle board placing them just above water level so they seem to emerge from it.

Sean Yoro grew up on the island of Oahu, where he spent most of his time by the ocean. Even when he’s in New York he found painting the walls of abandoned, water filled places. The artist paints hyperrealistic portraits of women just above the time. Due the paintings position above the water, their reflection is almost perfect when the water is calm showing a flipped side of painted surface.

Hula had experience drawing in graffiti, watercolor and tattoo art. However, he began to paint the the human body only when he was 21.

“This piece was inspired by the silence beneath the surface of the water, when all you can hear is your heartbeat as everything else fades away, its one of the many places I call home.” says Hula about the piece “Pu’uwai” (Heart).
