Lee West Line of Brass objects by Carl Auböck workshops
The brass objects collection a collaboration between Paris-based designer Lee West and the Carl Auböck workshops in Vienna. The minimal handcrafted pieces were created to respond to specific everyday needs.
Lee West Line of Brass objects debuted last december and it includes a Jewellery Box, a Table Lamp, a Watering Can, a set of Candle & Incense Holder. The polished and patinated brass objects are based on the repetition of a single cylindrical form.
The objects are the outcome of the encounter between Lee West and the Carl Auböck workshops as the British designer explains:
“Whilst looking in vintage design stores in Vienna I discovered particular objects that appealed to my sensibilities. The objects in question were designed by Carl Auböck the prominent Austrian modernist. On my next trip to Vienna I went to the Auböck shop to get a better look at his work. Amazingly I was greeted by Carl Auböck IV himself. We instantly started to exchange about design, its values, the importance of craftsmanship and he invited me to visit his workshop and archives. The outcome of this encounter is our first Lee West Objects collection produced at the Carl Auböck workshops.”
The full line is now available through Lee West Objects and each piece bears the mark of both the designer and maker, Lee West and Auböck.
