Lunaire by Ferréol Babin
Ferréol Babin has designed Lunaire for FontanaArte; a wall lamp with a surprising light effect, reminiscent of the phenomenon produced by eclipses.
Lunaire is a wall and ceiling lamp with an unexpected light effect, inspired by the phenomenon produced by eclipses. A smaller front disk containing the light source is set inside a large concave aluminium diffuser.
The light is not static, it has two different effects depending on how the small disk is positioned with respect to the diffuser: back lighting when the front disk is closed, in other words pushed towards the wall, or from inside the diffuser when the disc is pulled forward.
By pulling or pushing the rod on the front of the disk one can changes the lighting effect to suit the mood.
“How can an object produce a strong effect, an impressive impact, and then turn into a quiet and nonintrusive object when we want it to? That’s why light is my favorite ‘material,’ because it has this power to change a whole room in a second.” says Babin
