Vitra + Artek by Studioilse at the VitraHaus
Studioilse, led by designer Ilse Crawford, curated the The first joint exhibition of design brands Vitra and Artek. The installation takes a form of an apartment, lived in by fictional couple Hari and Astrid, in the loft of the VitraHaus.
Vitra and Artek created this space to introduce the union of the two brands. Instead of simply displaying their respective products alongside each other, they’ve chosen to tell a story: an imaginary home of a fictitious Finnish-German couple, Harri and Astrid. The concept was go “beyond the bland commercialisation of design, to convey real life in all its layers and eccentricities.”
“Today, these things might be considered design classics, but they were never intended to be museum exhibits. They were intended to raise the quality of everyday life and living.”
